I'm Italian and, contrarily to stereotypes, my family of origin is small, my temperament is calm and mostly voted to introspection.
My acquired family is much more numerous, therefore each of their coming together delivers me the fascination and the oddities of a chaotic environment. It entices my senses with the combination of different language, exotic food, unusual dress code and odd behavioral norms. All this results in a visual feast for my eyes and my camera, the latter offers me a form of refuge when it all becomes overwhelming.
In August 2020 we all met in Brittany to celebrate the 70th birthday of my mother in law at her home. It was our first meeting after the initial pandemic wave, all European countries were forced in some form of lockdown. It was a short return to a form of normal life, everyone suspected that it would have taken quite some time before meeting each other again.
The series "La Fete" is a singularity, my personal depiction of an event taking place in a restricted region of space and time.
This series was in the shortlist for the Vonovia Award 2021, it has been exhibited at the Sprengel Museum in Hannover and projected in the 2022 edition of the Boutographies Festival in Montpellier.
