There is always a second layer of meaning, a hidden world, buried under the surface of what we see. We see the table, not its atoms. We hear the voice, not the thoughts.
I developed this series while blending a colorful and surreal visual language with a poetic and atmospheric black and white one. The solution to this unlikely mix is a world on the verge of possibility: strange but not unthinkable. Unstable but still holding together. It is my attempt to look under the surface of reality.
If you ever walk by a particular spot in town, think that it is different than usual, but can’t explain why. If you have the feeling that something is going to happen. If you think that sometimes things make no sense: this series wants to show you that you are not alone.
This series was shortlisted for the 2019 Hahnemühle Student Award and was featured in the digital edition of the Fine Art Printer Magazine (Germany)
